Can never work out the difference between UK and US mpg so I get around 240 miles/tank aournd town and 300+ on the motorway.
Hopefully get at least 300 miles/tank when I set off on a 1500-1900 mile (depending on how much driving I do when I get there) round trip to France on Friday.
Currently fuel in France at 1.61 Euros per litre ($2.53 per litre) in some places which is $6.09 per US Gallon.[X(]

Jvegas, i have the 2.5 with a 5 speed. I actually get worse gas mileage shifting at 1800 and taking it real easy on it than i do taking off quicker. The key idea is to find a shift point that maximizes your engine EFFICIENCY not power and torque and to stay within that range. I found that 70-75 MPH is a good highway speed and that shifting at 2400-2600 is best for town driving. Leave the car in gear if its a stickshift when decelerating or coasting. Use more fuel idling and you also will wear your brakes quicker shifting to nuetral
. On top of that, i very seldom have to drive in traffic with the hours that i work so that helps alot. Other than that keep it clean and all your maintainence proformed. I am 20 years old so you most likely have an idea how i drive (I am not going to deny i jump on it a little more than the typical person) and i still manage to get better mileage in anything i drive compared to others just out of driving habbit and knowing what im driving. Its like a challenge to me to see how good i can get

silly side question relating to mileage. Is there a reason why our Jags have such a small fuel tank? I only ask this as I am used to american vehicles which seem to have a gas tank that will allow you to drive for 400 miles without refilling. But, in the case of the Jag, I can only get maybe 325 miles to a tank going to the same points. I pushed it once and managed to get 340 miles, but that was putting 13.8 gallons into the tank (the tank supposedly only holds 13.5 gallons, so, I was running on fumes, literally). Is it just a European thing or is there some logic to it? Not saying it is wrong, just different than what I am used to.
