Wheel Bearing Data (ABS) issue
Recently, I had a LF bearing go out. I replaced the bearing with a National 510099 bearing. Immediately, I had ABS issues. I checked (replaced) the WSS, thinking I broke it during the removal. New sensor still gave a C1155 code. I checked the wiring harness and all seemed good. I consulted several people that explained the module was most likely the issue. Before changing that out, I swapped the leads and sensors, all the while continuing with a C1155 code. Finally, I decided to check to see if the factory bearing and aftermarket were truly compatible. I found they were. Plus, both the National and Jaguar bearing use the SKF #BAH-0068-D bearing with 64 magnetic poles. Now for the images of the proof.
The bearing in the knuckle WAS the new bearing, but was either defective or damaged during installation. I used iron filings sprinkled over the encoder ring to display the pole configuration. I would recommend checking the bearing before installation, then finally after pressing the new bearing in, recheck the poles to insure the integrity of the bearing. If the poles still look like the first two photos, then the installation was good and you shouldn't have any ABS issues due to the bearing.
