Default When trans goes into over drive

Under light engine load in my 2003 x-auto - once I get to 50 or 60 mph and the car shifts into over drive there is a slight sound from the rear of the car. Almost like a brrrr - it is really quick and sharp - does anyone know what I am talking about. It is a very faint sound and you have to be looking for it to hear it(?)...

You know what it may be a vibration, I felt it on the drivers door because my leg was leaning on it when it happened. Any of you x-type owners even notice this?

brrrr

My 06 started making a loud growling noise at speed. Turned out the car was out of line and the rear tires had scalloped themselves on the inner tread. Had the car aligned and a new set of tires mounted and no more noise.

Just heard back from the dealer, they claim that noise is perfectly normal - should I raise hell? Can you guys try something for me when you are out driving... Under light load, say no more that 2000 rpms accellerate. Make sure the windows are up, air & radio off. Just you and your Jag. Listen or feel for over drive to kick in around 45 mph - what do you hear? Thanks...

you x-type owners have any 'shielding' around your drive shaft or transfer case? If theres vibration to be felt from the drivetrain, i'd look there frist. Not a direct vibration, but surrounding metal resonating due to the drivetrain? make sense? I dunno, nothing to look under to checkt his.

christo, I listened to my car and I have that same sound. From what I can tell, it is just the torque converter locking back up with the shift into overdrive. It isn't anything that I am overly worried about. My car has made this noise from the day that I bought it.

Wheew! I feel much better, now. But now I have another problem, Jaguar took care of some paint issues for me while it was in the shop and now I have swirl marks on the drivers side. I feel like such a dork while driving the car now... It's going back on Monday, I havte this crap man!
