Hey fellow X typers.
Do any of you know how I can get to the fuel pump and the sender because its been two years that my car hasn't been giving me an accurate reading of how much fuel I have left and I am finally bugged to the point of trying to fix it haha.

The Parts Manual illustrations are often a better guide to locations than the JTIS drawings:

JTIS suggest the fuel tank does not need to be removed on the 3.0 litre to access the pump and sender.
JTIS - 2003 X Type Fuel Pump Module.pdf
On other models erratic fuel level readings have often been traced to harness faults rather than the sender and it would be worth eliminating this before going to the inconvenience of opening the tank.

The fuel sender is a variable resistance - 20 ohm on empty and 180 ohm on full.
At the sensor is a four way connector on harness (Parts Manual item 7):
Fuel level sensor 1 = connector FT2
Fuel level sensor 2 = connector FT3
At the Instrument Cluster:
sensor 1 = Pin IP10-7
sensor 2 = Pin IP10-6
It is extremely unlikely there would be a harness issue at the Instrument Cluster unless this has been removed and refitted.
If it is a circuit and not a sender issue, the sender harness connections to the sender itself or to the main harness are the ones to check.
