I get the same whine when I push the car hard. I haven't taken the car to high speeds, but when I do I'll try to get sound clips of the noises my car makes. It sounds like it's more of an X problem.

Hey dunhill I think I have the noise you are speaking of that isnt' the tires and not the rattle but the other one. It's not annoying right? Because originally when I first got the car I thought it was the engine but when you put it in neutral it doesn't make it-right? If so mine has that noise as well, I assumed it was part of the awd system of the car. Mine isn't loud or annoying or anything though...

I still think it's part of the AWD system....
I need to check the TSB's and see what they have for 05's

Ok, found 2 TSB's:
1. Drive shaft vibration-says to check for green line on rear diff flange (if not aligned, you have a problem)
2. Sound transfer from transmission.-- (install deadining liner)

ok, the same TSB applies to the 02's. Don't see anything else for road noise...

I don't think it's an AWD thing since my car does it too!

The noise is intermittent and not that loud. It goes away in neutral. It is not engine related at all. In drive, it almost sounds like a whininig noise at lower speeds and a rattle. Now, it doesn't do it all the time....I will have the dealer look at it.

Well Dunhill, I wish you better luck than me.
I took mine to the dealer and they had it o/nite as the prob was intermittent. Went back and they said that they couldn't fault the car.......lol.........for diagnostic check and "loan car" cost me £103.......and still no further forward, so beware!

Its gonna be tough for me to keep track of where I am....lol
The car's nearly 4 and a half years old.......(looks about maybe 2 years old though - good condition) and only has 18.5k on the clock. When I bought it about 5 months ago it had just been serviced, so I guess it'll be getting done again in about 6-7 months time.
