RE: WHINING NOISES - ENGINE / TRANSMISSION?
Hey dunhill I think I have the noise you are speaking of that isnt' the tires and not the rattle but the other one. It's not annoying right? Because originally when I first got the car I thought it was the engine but when you put it in neutral it doesn't make it-right? If so mine has that noise as well, I assumed it was part of the awd system of the car. Mine isn't loud or annoying or anything though...

ORIGINAL: racerx82
Ok, found 2 TSB's:
1. Drive shaft vibration-says to check for green line on rear diff flange (if not aligned, you have a problem)
2. Sound transfer from transmission.-- (install deadining liner)

The noise is intermittent and not that loud. It goes away in neutral. It is not engine related at all. In drive, it almost sounds like a whininig noise at lower speeds and a rattle. Now, it doesn't do it all the time....I will have the dealer look at it.

Its gonna be tough for me to keep track of where I am....lol
The car's nearly 4 and a half years old.......(looks about maybe 2 years old though - good condition) and only has 18.5k on the clock. When I bought it about 5 months ago it had just been serviced, so I guess it'll be getting done again in about 6-7 months time.
