Will an S-Type CD player work in a X?

It's been hard trying to find a decent priced cd changer for my 2002 X type, so I figured I could replace the tape deck with a cd player. I've found a good deal on a used one for about $50 but it lists for a 2004 S Type, would that work? It seems all I would have to do is pull the tape deck and insert, is it that easy or would i need to get it programmed at the dealer?

I agree with Aquiller. We don't like coming across as snobs, since we're really cool and playful here. You should try switching them, since the worst that can happen is that it doesn't work. Then you'd just have to switch it back!

Yeah just post it back up on ebay when it doesn't! I'd imagine though that they aren't much different. I know that most radios in fords whether it be explorer or escape they have the same exact radio as long as they have the double din unit they fit....heck even my boom truck I drove had the same radio it was a sterling and the cd player from my escape slid right in no problems and it has like 5 different type of connection in the back so pretty much any car could mount into it as long as it was ford and was double din...

Well, looks like it's going up on ebay[:@]It appears that the X-Type does not have a modular set up, it is all one piece. Even though it looks like 2 separate pieces. Take a look for future reference at both the tape and cd decks:

Ithink if you have navigation, then it is dooable.. so if you are selling it on ebay you can try to add that to the description. there are some secret codes to activate it.
I like my tape deck ( I have a changer also ) becauseI can use a simple tape adaptor to play my ipod.
