Default Window issue

Hi - new here and a new jag owner

sneaked out of work to try a fix i saw on your forum but it didn't work - ie holding the switch all the way up for a few seconds and then all the way down, i assume to reset the parameters? see below...

have a 2001 sport 2.5 and the drivers side (incl pax) has a strange issue with opening and closing the windows...

to open it takes three/four pushes as its stops every few inches, then to close them every 8th pull of the switch the window goes up and can take 4/5 times to completely close...

ideas anyone please?

In theory the motor stops when it meets resistance. Have you tried some silicon spray in the window guides to help it glide?

sadly it wasn't a lubrication issue... its very strange as it goes down to the same level each time and takes 4 pushes to completely open, then to go up, to make it move anywhere it takes 8 pulls on the switch (moves on the 8th but only partially) then another 8, and up a bit more etc... howevere if you only close a very little it will go up in very short closes without having to pull it back 8 times again....

i think it might be a programming issue rather than the switch now, i don't think it would be so consistent if it was the switch....

is there any way of plugging her in to a laptop or is that strictly reserved for the garages with the right software?
