Windows 7 in-car PC is complete.
It took a little than expected, but here it is.
My list of components:
1. Metra Double DIN Dash Kit
2. Acer Aspire One netbook
3. Touchscreen kit
4 .USB powered hub
5. USB 6-Channel audio card
6. USB VGA converter
7. USB Bluetooth
8. 3 x phono-to-AV adapters
9. 5 channel amplifier
10. Slot load USB DVD
11. Headrest monitors
12. PCMCIA Wireless Hub
13. 12v-to-5v DC converters
14. USB GPS Module
15. USB squid hub (mini and full USB ports in ash tray)
16. Zune HD (in case I want radio besides HD Internet streaming)
17. Free Microsoft Origami Experience 2.0 front end for media, calendar, Outlook integration and application launcher
I used the netbook's 8.9 screen (which fits almost perfectly behind a modified Metra double DIN X-Type kit) and I had to put a momentary soldered from the motherboard next to the screen to suspend and resume Windows.
The only thing that make this usable is the Origami frontend. I tried a bunch of others from MP3car.com, but this is by far superior in look and feel + integration (and it's free).
Here are some pics of the install, Origami front end, headrests, slot DVD and router:

That is sick and clean. Always wanted to do this as a project.
What did the final cost end up being? and man hours?
Did you Paint your front bumper marker?
I got the same platinum color sport, looking to do borlas first, the 18 inch Arubas are curbed up bad. Waiting to get a wood grain wheel installed soon.
For the HandR Springs did you have to get the fenders rolled w the 20's?
looks nice man!

Bumper markers are wrapped in graphics vinyl. The silver is a perfect match.
Fenders are rolled for a previous set of 19x10 ET 35 and 19x8.5 ET 35, but honestly, I don't think I would have needed to roll with these since the rears stick so far into the fender. I will space the rears out eventually, because the current offset on 20x9.5's (ET45) looks a little too wimpy for me. The fronts are fine though.

I remember reading that you were doing it and thought that it would look like crap. Kudos to you, it looks factory, very very clean.
Now I want to do it. Seems to me that a double din head unit is out of the question since there doesn't seem to be enough room. You can get internet radio with a GSM card in the netbook, but one question, does the bluetooth work? Like on screen display?

They are purely for my kids, otherwise I agree with you. The definition of tackiness for me is having 9 or 10 monitors and having some show up in the trunk and engine bay. yuck.

I know what you mean. I was in the custom truck scene for years, I've seen monitors on exterior body panels for pete's sake! Blech.

I have a question about your in car internet abilities...namely how do you get them? I see there's a router there, but what does it go to?
Sorry...NOOB question I know. And I really like what you've done with your ride. I was going to buy some new tires...buuuuut, now, maybe...nah, it's winter. I still need new tires. DANG!!

Verizon Pantech PCMCIA card is inserted in that router. I have to keep that since I'm grandfathered on unlimited Internet and the Mifi has a 5 GB limit.
