Windshield Washer Jet problem (Broken)
#21
My left jet (driver side) just recently broke. The hose is fine but i believe the nozzle of the jet broke off inside the elbow type hose. Is the jet easy to replace? Is it as simple as pulling off of the hood and replacing? I dont want to remove the wrong thing. Your help is greatly appreciated.

If you mean the black plastic squirter on the hood, they disconnect underneath, usually there are two tabs you press together and they pop out. Take the hose off first. You might need a plastic panel tool, as some of these squirters are pressed fit and you will need to pry it out from underneath.

Need to clarify. The part in question is the SPRAYER JET... this is a little black device that rides on the wiper blade. SCREENWASH JET It has a few little rubber tabs. Seems like one of them is torn and water is spraying mindlessly from it, I believe. It moves too quickly to really see what's happening. It's beyond the pin technique, unfortunately. I'll change it and report back on this.

I have a broken nozzle jet on driver's side. The nipple that the supply hose fits on broke off inside hose end. I bought a new Jaguar nozzle jet part and cannot determine how to get the old one off the hood. I am afraid to use brute force for fear of breaking something else. Can anyone provide a description on how to take off a windscreen nozzle jet?

Hi Rob
I have never removed the spray washers but I have this from anther member (Meatbag)
"Replacing therm took all of 3 minutes. I looked carefully at the new ones because you can't really see how the existing ones are attached up in that hole they are in on the underside of the . They have a stiffish plastic latch on the underside of the nozzle - on the end that points toward the front grill. I took a pair of pliers with rubber grips on the handles and stuck the handle end up in there like a lever to apply a bit of push onto that clip, and those little suckers popped right on outta there."
Hopefully that helps.

My original one was so brittle that as I was trying to pry, it kind of broke then fell out of the hole onto the windshield. So it came out not in fashion I expected but is out. I pulled out the broken nipple end that was still in hose. I installed my new jet in the hole in hood and connected hose. Then I tried it out and was disappointed that water didn't shoot out. So I checked my hose sections and there is a check valve in the hose between the two jets. That check valve is stopped up. I've tried small wire and some compressed air but it's stuck solid. I will try my auto parts store for one tomorrow. Thanks!

I had an inline coupler and not a check valve that I put in temporarily to test my new nozzle. It does work but the flow is weak. The other jet is extremely strong and in fact one of the water streams is high and goes over the length of entire car. It's as if the first jet is taking all the water pressure and not enough makes it to second jet. Anyone experience this and know a fix?

Success! Wa3ra gave me an idea and my theory worked. I had to scrape out remnants of the old broken jet nipple from tube end and I must not have gotten out each tiny piece. So when I hooked up my new one it seemed to have clogged the fine jet outlets. I removed both my jets from hood and all the tubing connected to them. Then with my compressed air I blew everything out from reverse flow direction. There were some fine particles that blasted into my hand from the new jet. I blew out the tubing and both jets again for good measure. Hooked it all back up and it now works perfectly! Thanks for the inspiration
