Unhappy Wireless key not working

Anyone has their remote key fob stop working even though the battery is OK. What was the fault and how expensive was it to fix?

Try using SEARCH box on this forum for "key fob"; lots of info available, re resynching fob to car.
It may need new micro switches if re synching doesn't cure. (There are specialists that offer that service.)

Strangely it has started working again - on and off - sometimes it unlocks sometimes not - although it hasn't locked properly except once. I have largely been locking manually.
Maybe its the fob battery after all - I wouldn't have thought so as it is relatively new - but I will check when I get home from work tonight. It might be an easy fix.
If its not the battery - what would cause such intermittent function?

This is a sign that the switches are stuffed, or the rubber "nipples" that push onto the switches are worn and not making one or more switches. If I can, I'll add a photo that shows the breakdown of a key fob. When you push a button, the rubber nipple pushes down on the micro switch and that directs current to the appropriate function. When the rubber nipples wear they fail to make contact and the driver pushed even harder on the button, and that can push the micro switch down further than normally required, occasionally making it fail. Now, ta whole fob, battery and all, as well as a blank (uncut) key costs (probably) less than $20 US, and can be purchased on eBay - just type "Jaguar key fob" and seek the one you want.

Yorta2 is right, it's probably easier and cheaper just to get a clone off ebay and program it yourself on the X-Type.

Each button press puts stress on the board which can cause the solder joints to fracture and the remote to fail.
