Nevermind the "quick question" from the last post.
Update: Went to ACE Hardware, showed the worker my problem, showed him the pics Disco took as a guideline. Used a 16' metal wire (thicker than the original by far), the same spring & end cap, plus some special holder screws to keep the end cap in place, that are better than a usual end holder (that way if I get into a situation like before, the Leaper wouldn't fall off & be an easier fix).I found out how to remove the base & will look to finish the job later on when I get more time, till then my Jag has the hood of a newer Jag w/ nothing on the hood.

Too bad you couldnt' fix this 100% yet. So, people love to mess with the Jaguars and their leapers huh? This would drive me into a black rage if this happened to me...

This is interesting. I had my leaper fall off 2 days ago because I was polishing it too hard. Seems that the cable had rusted pretty badly. I went to homedepot/lowes and bought the 100 pound wire that you hang pictures up with. I took the leaper base off by unscrewing the plastic hollow bolt under the hood. Screwed the plastic bolt back on and used it as a base to vice grip the spring and metal cap down while pulling the wire through them to tie a knot. Just a little muscle needed. Cut the excess of the wire, took the plastic bolt off, put the leaper base and spring through the top and finally put the plastic bolt back on under the hood. Seems to be working fine and the car sure looks good again

I have fixed the leaper 100% using the methods mentioned in this thread. THe only thing I have to fix now is my custom grill, meaning just get it repainted.
