The best 'next move' would be to get the fault codes read. As the phone codes are all Bxxxx type codes, a Jaguar enabled scanner would be required for this, but as that might be a bit difficult/expensive in your part of the world (?), a look though the code causes might guide you in your next stage of investigation. The codes listed by Jaguar are:
B1342 - Cellular Phone Control Module (CPCM) failure.
B2103 - Antenna fault
B2141 - CPCM configuration failure. Reconfigure using Jaguar WDS (Dealer/Good Jaguar Independent)
B2633 - Microphone Circuit fault
B2638 - Rechargeable battery fault in hand set.
B2644 - Mute signal circuit open circuit. ( Yellow wire, Display Unit to CPCM)

Hope that keeps your chances alive!!

Back to the endless issue...

The onboard 'computer' still alternates between the messages 'Phone not fitted to this system' and 'Phone is currently turned off'.

Have checked and rechecked...and everything seems fine. Still no power to the phone. Question : I found that there are two different locations to were a SIM card would fit...rear in the module itself and front in the handset...which one should I use ? (Probably got nothing to do with the issue at hand, but grasping at straws now...)

I also found that there is ONE relay missing in the fuse box in the engine bay, namely no.R4 (in the manual this one is described as supporting 'accessories'...could this be something ?

Anyhow...still appreciate any suggestions YOU might have...

All the best and Happy New Year to all !!!

Ben

That's interesting! I'm from Norway too, and in my 2.1 V6 (2003), it tells me to fill up with 5W-30 LL (Long Life).

Not to open up a festering wound here, but when it comes to oil, Jaguar initially said not to use full synthetic oil on the cars as they could not garantee how it would affect the variable valve timing components. So, they failed safe. Members have since figured out that you can use full synthetic (or even the blends) with no negative effects on the engine.

So, when it comes to what oil you use, the choice is up to you. Some say that the additional cost does not offset in the increased mileage, others say it is the best thing that you can do for the car. I will let you make your own decision on this.
