X type 2.5 v6 exhaust line sensors
Hi again, I have to fix catalytic convertor issues on my exhaust line and looking for alternative solutions. As i understand there are 2 cats on this car. Error codes : P1313 and P1314. Do you suggest alternative universal cats for secondary one? What are the locations of O2 sensors in relation to both catalytics? Two on both sides of main cat? or one for each cat?
Cheers,
Mete

Mete, for your car, there are 4 O2 sensors (2 are technically an air to fuel ratio sensor, but that is the semantics of the situation but are mentioned as there are sites that say that all 4 sensors are exactly the same, they ARE NOT!!!!). You have 2 sensors mounted into the CAT itself at the inlet to monitor the air to fuel mixture to make sure that it is being maintained properly and to give feedback to the ECU to adjust the ratio. You then have 2 more sensors on the outlet of the engine CAT that monitor the exhaust gases being expelled to make sure that the car is burning hte final bit of exhaust inside the CAT. If you look from the top of the engine, you will see the 2 air to fuel mix sensors (one is inside the hole to the left of the brake booster, the ohter is under the engine filter box. The 2 exhaust (oxygen) sensors you can easily access from under the car. You have 1 air to fuel sensor and one exhaust sensor for each side of the engine (ie, commonly referred to as Bank 1 and Bank 2, some may also refer to them as the front of the engine and back of the engine).

Pete, most will miss the ones on the cats because they are not obvious. hence why I give you general locations too. I have seen where people have tried to take the downstream (the O2 sensors after the cats) and remove them from the car or do various other things to make the codes go away (by the way, none of them worked other than getting a special box that simulates a good signal). If you get under the car, start from the transmission and work your way towards the engine bay. The 2 downstream sensors are going to be right in your face. You can see the other 2 sensors from under the car, but you will be asking yourself "how the @#$% do I reach those". Those 2 you reach from the top of the engine bay.
