x-type 2005 "Stability control failure"
Hi
I often get the message "Stability control failure" when i turn on the ignition and start the car, after 1 or 2 seconds however it goes away. I have never had any problems with DSC or ABS.
A Ford dealership has tried to run a diagnostic and checked wiering etc but cant find anything wrong.
Have heard that this can be a problem with the X-type because of some "voltage problems" when you start the car...cant remember what was said caused this but it wasnt unusual with the x-type.
Anyone have any idea why i get this message for 1 or 2 seconds while starting the car when everything is fine?
sorry for the bad english

Snowman, search "battery" and/or "battery cables" in the X-type section. There will be some recent discussion about mystery codes and hot cables, etc. May be your problem. I had a similar problem with the dash readout and it turned out my + battery cable the runs to the fuse box was actually arcing to a body bolt as the insulation had worn through. Couldn't see it from above. Just a thought.

Snowman, like mohrd mentions, a weak battery can cause what you are seeing (ie, voltage drops too low due to the high current draw of the starter) or the cables associated with the battery are failing, leading to a high resistance in the middle of the wire, leading to excessive voltage drops in the wiring, leading to an undervoltage condition for the computers. I would say to first have a load test done on the battery. That is a quick and easy thing to have done and normally can be done at a local auto parts store for free here in the US. After that, let me know and I can give you some checks to make using a multimeter (if you don't know how to use one, let me know).
