My MPG isn't as good as some of yours because I live very close to work and only drive about 5 miles a day like a few others have said.

However, I usually have the DTE up on my screen as opposed to the mileage or trip computer. I noticed that after changing my fuel filter, my DTE went up from a consistent 235 miles to 256 miles. I always wait until the fuel light comes on and put a full tank in and go to maybe 3 different gas stations, depending on which I'm closest too. Once better weather gets here, I get between 285-300 per tank depending on where I drive.

My advice would be to change your filters. The air filter can be done in 2 minutes and the fuel filter, while slightly more complex, can be done in under half an hour with the right tools and a jack.

I just come back from my first road trip with my x-type. Let me tell you it was a blast to drive. And after a fresh tune up and new cats( old owner let the car go) I am happy to say that she ran like a new kitty. Just did the avg mpg and I was blown away . I drove her 2500 miles and got an avg of 28 mpg. No issues or complaints. Going to add some new shocks and struts as soon as I can and I think it would give it a better ride. Taking the advice from the tire section and going to get some new rubber. Thanks to all who make this forum happen. It would have cost me a arm and a leg without it.

I recently have been doing a lot of highway driving. I got up to 32 MPG with my 3.0L 2003 X-Type on my way to Syracuse, NY. On the way home, I was pulling just over 29 MPG. That was doing a lot of driving at a fairly constant 70 mph. Granted, I also noticed that if I turned on the heat, the mileage would drop some. Go figure. I am waiting to see what happens when I give the car a working over with new IMT o-rings, PCV valve, and a few other things.
