Squito, you may want to look into the protective films that they have out there now. That is what most people are going to this days. It is a clear film that glues itself to the hood/front area of the car. You wouldn't know it is there unless you get really close. When you think it needs replacing, you simply peel it off, give it a good wash to remove any residual glue that might be left and then you can apply more.
It can be formed around any contour of a vehicle through the application of a little bit of heat. So, all the bumps and whatnot of the X-Type hood is not a problem. Most places that do either window tinting or spray in bed liners will also carry this stuff.
Just a thought.

Thermo,
I appreciate the insight on clear film. I have considered it. However, I compete with my X-type in the JCNA Concours and clear films are not allowable at the moment (though I believe there was discussion to allow it in the future). Since I don't have experience with putting the clear film on and removing it, I am hesitant to go that direction if it'll affect my scoring. Does removing the clear film affect its ability to then be reapplied or do I need to purchase a new film every time I remove the old one? An official Jaguar bra will hopefully allow easy removal and install for the short periods I need to have it on during love bug season and during travels to the Concours. Thanks for the input.

Squito, the film is a one time use only product. With that being said, there is some apply, remove, reapply as you are installing it to allow you to position it just so. If you want to see what it would take, take a look at
. This will give you a general idea of what you will encounter. Here is an example of what you can buy that can be put on your car and removed with no marks being left: Clear 3M Protective Gloss Transparent Film Adhesive Vinyl Decal Sheet 6î x 60" | eBay
