Were any of the diesel X-Type Jaguars (2.0, 2.2) marketed in the USA, or were these exclusively European models?

 

The diesel models were not imported into the north american market.
I don't think your fuel pricing structure worked in favour of operating diesel engines like it did in other markets.

 

h2o2steam, also keep in mind that it would have been one more engine that would have had to go through EPA testing and for what that costs, it was not economical to do as Jaguar saw it. Besides, us Americans are not pro-diesel in our cars. there are a few that have a diesel powered sedan, but that is a very niche market.

 

That would be my dream X-type really....much better MPG and speed wouldn't matter to me an AWD wagon with a diesel is perfect for what I want to do with the car.

Too bad all the most useful engines are euro only....it's that way with too many cars IMO

 

Your dream X type with a diesel engine and AWD would remain a dream if you came to UK/Europe in a search for it, as the diesel models came only as FWD. The earlier 2.0 diesels were all manual shift, a six speed auto arriving later as an option with the 2.2. diesel.
