I took my X type in for service and on the way the indicators stopped working. The garage said it was the stork. This has gone on and now they say it is the Gem module. However the problem has got worse they cannot open the passenger door only the drivers door The key fob has been playing up and I can only unlock the car but not lock it. I have been using the key to lock and fob to unlock. .The garage say the gem module is under the glove box and because the passenger door is locked they cannot get at the gem module. has anyone any ideas?

brunoL, I know this might sound silly, but the doors unlock manually. Sounds like you can get in the driver's door. Reach over, unlock the door and it should open up. if it doesn't, then you have a problem that is mechanical and has nothing to do with the GEM module. At that point, if you can't unlock the door with the key and the inside lock are not working, then you will need to take a bit of time and remove the passenger seat (gives you room to work. From there, you will need to remove the door panel and then access the door latch mechanism. From there, you will be able to pop the door open and make the necessary repairs.

Hi Thank you for your reply. The door was jammed locked and I was unable to open it manually. The garage's mechanic managed to remove the glove box and fit a new Gem module. after nearly a week off the road the car is now working again. Many thanks for you help and advice it was much appreciated. BrunoL
