X-type Gearbox light..at Ford dealer?
Hi there!
I'm from Bangkok,Thailand
Just bought my first jag a few days ago.Its 2.1 V6
my dad took the car upcountry, 500 miles+ from the City
once he arrived. my X-type showed some fault messege,Engine,ABS and lastly Gearbox fault. then it wouldn't start.
Took it to local European car-specialist who has OBD scanner, unfortunately,no Jags program installed...but he managed to get it started.
We tried disconnect the battery and replace with a brand new one..engine/abs lights gone but gearbox light still on and she's now on limp mode...
the question is
Can the Ford or Mazda dealership perform OBD test for me? I understand that Ford/Mazda/Jag and LandRover uses Rotunda VCM.
I've already made some calls to them...they really not willing to do..but maybe a try tho,,
I hope Ford/Mazda dealer could be my last resort...otherwise I'd have to hire a collection service..well for 500 milessssss

If you have an android or a laptop, you can buy an elm327 on ebay for less than $20 and it WILL read Jaguar codes!!!! If you have an android, you want the bluetooth elm327 and the torque pro app.
The good news is that all of those lights are normally not actually associated with the engine, abs, or gearbox, but instead they are actually associated with the charging system. Those systems will start to fail when they don't get enough current because of a problem with your battery, battery cables, or alternator. With that being said, I am 99% sure that it's just a charging system problem and you don't have to freak out too much. If you have any obdII reader that can read the codes (any auto parts stores) they you can delete the codes and you should get out of limp mode.
