Default X-Type HID Headlight Adjuster Re-Build

I was planning on replacing the broken adjusters in both of my X-type HID headlights However, I’ve seen headlight assemblies on eBay that have been rebuilt, but without the washers.

my question is if the washers are not originally on the headlight assembly, can I use (attach) my current headlight washers to the used assembly? Are the black assembly bodies universal between the HID Xenon and the Halogen?

Welcome to the forums RBaczek,

I've copied the question from your Intro to X-Type forum for advice from members with the same model.

The housing for the washers is a part of the head light lens. You can't pull the pieces out and put them into another headlight unless it is a washer equipped housing.
Search on youtube and look for the vendor that has a video for performing the repairs. Here is one for the repairs
You can also find videos for removing the lights. I have done the repair a few times for myself and friends.

Washers are not part of the housing, they are attached with two torx screws. Non HID housings also have attachment points for washers. but one adjuster is different in HID and halogen version. on the photo is adjuster from halogen kit in HID housing, and hole on the bottom does not align, so i guess there are some differences in housings.

Default HID headlights

Thanks to all who responded. I think I’m just going to replace the broken adjusters. It doesn’t seem to be that big a project, maybe a weekend.

with that said, does anyone have a source for the driver’s side (left) headlight lens only? I can’t see having to pay $150+ ($100-$125 more for HID) for a used headlight assembly that has to be rebuilt anyway.

since I’ll have to fix both sides, I’ll remove the headlights for rebuilt and replace the cracked left lens at the same time

try www.autoreservejaguar.com, they had only lenses before.
when removing lenses easiest way is to put them in oven at low temp for about 10min. and don't put silicone, buy something like this:
https://www.morimotohid.com/morimoto...lue?quantity=1
put it in housing, warm it up in oven and put the lens back.

A good source of parts is to reach out to Dr Dome. He is a forum member that parts out x-types and see if he has what you need. Call or text 484-903-4813.
