X Type locked front door.
MY 2001 X Type has a locked left front door. I have managed to pull back the top of the door card and can see that the cable is working (door is locked shut) Is it possible to manually deactivate the door actuator so the rod engages with the door pull. All other door locks work with fob and door handle etc. Not sure where to go from here. Thanking you

Kevin: Just spitballing...... It's common for the door latches on our X-Types to get stuck in the closed position when the lubricant dries up. A generous shot off spray lubricant into the door latch mechanism solves the problem. Is your door latch stuck in the locked position, or perhaps it just needs some lubricant to work smoothly again.

Door lock issues are common because of a nylon/plastic piece in the mechanism. Take a look at the thread below. It may be whats is causing your problem.

Thanks avern1 I am aware of this problem.Mine is more complicated as the door is in the locked position. All other doors work. I have pulled back the door card at the top and can see the components(with difficulty) sitting in the passengers seat(right hand drive) The cable is free and you can see it pull and swing over in the activator switch.Doesn't have power by the looks.

Hi dwclapp
Yes the door lock is stuck in the locked position. Not getting power by the sound(or lack of) The cable is doing what it should. Thought there might be some way of manually de- activating the actuator. Hard to get at while door is closed. But I don't think mine would be the first one to do this.

Finally got the door open. After purchasing a replacement door lock I could see how it worked. I was able to remove a small amount of plastic and get at the part I needed to move in order to get the lock to release. The first movement released the first catch of the double lock. The second release needed a bit of tapping and moving the door to jump the catch. It didn't unlock but it did jump the retainer. Not an easy fix but it's done now and the wife does not have to sit in the back.
