Hi everyone,
I have 2003 Xtype and have the following issues:
-Limp mode
-Abs Light,
-Engine Light
-Break light
-Parking light
-No KM Only Dashes ---------
-No speedometer
-Code: only P1637
What I have checked the following till now:
- Ground point behind the passenger heard lights G18 Page 20 of manual, Cleared with wire brush and reinstalled
-Ground point under Battery G16 Page 20 of manual, Cleared with wire brush and reinstalled
-Ground point on the engine G13 Page 20 of manual, Cleared with wire brush and reinstalled
-Fuse number 67, 79, 82, 92, 96
-Cleaned the TCM connector with vinegar and salt and rinsed with baking soda and sprayed with electrical cleaner
-replaced the TCM with another used TCM

Camwad, the P1637 code is a CAN bus failure between the ECM and TCM. So, while the connector at the TCM may be sparkling clean right now, how is it looking at the ECM? A little bit of corrosion there may be your issue. This is also not ruling out that you have damaged the CAN bus wiring between the 2 components. I would start looking at the ECM and ruling stuff out there.

Welcome to the forums Camwad,
I've moved this version of your question from General Tech Help to X-Type forum and deleted the other version you had posted at the end of an old thread.

Camwad, the wires that you are interested in are the green (G) and yellow (Y) wires on the left center of the drawing you show (specifically wires 13 and 34 in the plug). Since you have JTIS, I would tell you to go look back at Figure 20.1 and see how the wiring is linked together between the ABS, ECM, and TCM (and a few other modules). From the looks of things, you have a bad wire between where the signal splits to go between the ECM and ABS module going back to the TCM. Keep in mind that the CAN bus is just a stream of data that flows through all of the modules. If the module doesn't need the data it just lets it pass through. If the module does need the data, it knows what the latest value is and puts it into the programming inside that module, updating what the car does. This is why you have to start a data logger or code reader with the starting of the car so it knows what is the beginning of the stream.
So, for example, the ABS module is what calculates the vehicle speed (looks at the 4 wheel speed sensors). It puts that data out on the CAN bus. But, because the data is not making it through the TCM, the instrument cluster is not getting that information to display on the screen for you. So, it defaults to "------".
A question you may want to think about is what work has been done to the car recently that may affect wiring in the dash or on the right side of the engine bay (on the front side of the engine). This is where the wiring would run and if you have recently done some major work in that area, I would start looking there first as that is the most likely spot for a problem to be.
