The parking aids on my 2004 x type jag station wagon have stopped working. The switch light is flashing, there is a 3 or 4 second beep, but nothing else. The reverse lights are working but I can hear no noise from any of the sensors front or back. Any ideas please?

Ok this is what you need to do. With the help of someone. Put the car in reverse and hold the brake. Now go to the back of the car and put your ear to each of the sensors. You will hear a clicking sound coming from the sensors. If you don't then that sensor is the bad one. If you don't hear any of them, then you most definitely have a wiring issue.
Let me know how this works for you.,
Good luck,

I read that in order to discover a faulty parking sensor a good method is to hear the clicking sound from the sensors. I tried this method (my parking aids were in error with 5 seconds beep and flashing led) but I wasn't able to hear any clicking. I supposed the ECU was so faulty that no impulse (click click) were sent to the sensors, front and rear. Than I had an idea and used a MEDICAL STETHOSCOPE to hear the sensors and BINGO I heared the continuous cliking from all sensors except one, front center. For a better diagnostic I swapped two sensors, to exclude cable or ECU and I defined that it was the sensors. Ordered and replaced and now my parking aids are perfect. My suggestion : use a STETHOSCOPE.
