X Type Problems
I'm thinking about buying a 2005-2007 x type- I have been hearing about problems with electrical systems and engine computer problems. Are these common problems with all x types- any other problems I should be aware of? Are they very expensive to maintain in general ie. brakes, tires, transmission parts etc?

I have had my X for 3.5 yrs and not had one electrical issue or computer issue. Last yr they did have a recall out for a reflash of the ECU, had it done and not an issue since then.
My X has been pretty worry free. And the small items it needed were covered under the select warranty that comes with purchasing a preowned X from your local Jaguar dealer. I have done the usual wear items like brakes, tires, oil changes, etc.. And with any car it could be costly but not so bad. The most costly thing I just fixed was the AC, it needed a new line which only comes from Jaguar, evac the system and refilled it. Its cold as ice now!!!
I say take the jump and get an X, you will enjoy it. I suggest that you buy from a local Jaguar dealer so you get a warranty.

Out of all of the issues that are common to this car, the electrical system really is not one of them. Surprising, I know. Certainly not a concern when contemplating a purchase.
Cost of maintenance would be on par for other cars in the same general category (entry level luxury), which is to say not all that cheap. However some DIY ability can save you a good amount of cash.
