I have an 03 X Type which has static through the radio which I know was replaced before I got it. Is it a suppressor issue and if so how do I have fix it

Is the heat element in the rear window on when you get the static? Jaguar, in their wisdom, designed it so the heated rear window is also the antenna! Static when its on is a common problem. The wagon has a roof ariel that works better.

Yes I tried it and it happens even without the screen on. I presume there is not much I can do then?
Thanks for your help anyway.

Try taking the radio out and checking the antenna connections. It comes out easily. Jaguar uses the new modern connectors and they have a small plastic clip to secure them. Maybe yours is loose or broken? You may have some dirt in the connection which is shorting something out? Also check the connection in the back to the heating elements.
I doubt if you have a suppression issue. But stranger things have happened.

Do you have tinted windows? If the problem happens all
the time there might be some metal in the tinting. I remember seeing a post about that a long time ago

will check the connections. The guy that put the radio in was a moron so it is possible hes caused some damage. I will check the connectors at the back of the radio. I will also check the antenna at the rear I take it is in the boot somewhere?.
the reason I mentioned suppression is because of my limited knowledge. I am a builder not a car man. thanks for your help
