That was quite a project and labor of love. Something I envy as far as the skills needed and the time to devote to it. Well done, indeed! That was about a year ago. Would be interesting to hear how well the car has held up over the last year and how well your daughter likes it. AND...how well is she (daddy?) taking care of it? How about an update, Itmax?

Thanks for all the nice words everyone!
Over the past year the Jag has never let my daughter down, but we kind of joke that it's never gone more than 6 weeks without needing something or another.
Had two coil packs on the back bank (of course) fail several months apart, both requiring the intake to come back off. Once it just started spitting and sputtering setting a code for the one bad coil, and the other time it set fault codes for all 3 coils on that side. It's a bummer as I put all new coils on it just last year.
Had a front strut go bad and never could get the ABS light to go off even after changing both wheel bearings, ABS computer, and wiring to both front wheels. just learned to live with the chronic check engine and ABS light and the battery light has a mind of it's own as well so we ignore that too as most days its off and doesn't affect the drive-ability.
Replaced the coolant tank, thermostat, and lower radiator hose and tried like mad to find a tiny coolant leak for about 4 months that turned out to be the small cooling hose on the underside of the throttle body.
The one front lower control arm that I didn't replace last year started clunking so that got changed.
Two tires, alignment, and now the rear end is wiggling around on turns so I think the rear lower control arm are due for replacement....
Overall, it wasn't anything too bad but this old girl sure doesn't like to be ignored. With a year and 15k more miles on the odometer I think it's finally started to pay for itself a little bit, and we may be at the break even point for what I paid for it, all the labor to get it back on the road, and what it's worth now.
Every time I get frustrated with it and swear my daughter needs to put it up for sale, I get it purring again, give it a good wash, stand back start admiring the flowing lines and start to like it all over again.

I'm hoping in 3-4 years to have the last laugh and be able to look back on it with pride after it rolls over 200k miles and is still running strong and looking as sweet as ever...
Then again, I said that last year when I thought it was fully squared away...
I'll try and give you all another update next year and see how it's doing then..
Everyone please wish me luck!!!

Sorry everyone, my Daughter slid off the road the other day and hit a curb taking out the left side wheel and bending the frame. She walked away without a scratch and that's the most important thing. The damage didn't look too bad but with the age of the car and energy of the impact, the insurance company totaled it out and this officially ends my love hate relationship with this pretty kitty. My highly ranked insurance company only wants to offer me about 40% of what I've sunk into it these past 17 months and that's really disappointing...grrrrr. Will have to talk to them next week and see if we can come to an agreement on something a little more realistic (wish me luck). So much for me having the last laugh and getting my moneys worth out of the old girl in a few years.
My Daughter loved this car, but don't believe that she wants another X-Type, so unfortunately this will most likely be my last post.
I truly appreciate all the great people on this board. Your tips, encouragement and support are without equal on any of the other car forums I've been on over the years and really made my Jaguar experience special.
Cheers to all and THANKS!
Sincerely
Max

How hard is it to straighten a frame (and replace suspension parts)? I can't see how bad it is from the pictures.
If they are only going to give you 40% of what you put into it...
I suppose it is a writeoff, but after reading about all your work in restoring it...
