We have a x-type 2.5V6 4wd 2006


When you drive harder this car trows out ATF at right breather on top of the transfer case.


There is also ATF in the tranfer case, when there needs to be thik oil?


Is this a known isseu?

We disassembled the transfercase. And found a blown gasket ring (dont know how to translate this).

 

Joris, sounds like you have a bad seal on the output of the tranny and this is allowing fluid to work its way into the transfer case, leading to it becoming over filled and spitting the fluid out the vent. Sounds like you have a considerable amount of work ahead of you.

 

We found the seal ring kit at a local tranny specialist. (2 big rings, 1 smal one and a rubber ring).

Now seeing how to get that all in L

I have seen a topic about a transfercase rebuild?!? But cant find it anymore on the forum....?

Edit:

A problem we ran in to, the inner seal is in a planetary gear system, this system is fixed with rivets. We can get them out, but the specilaist will make this as new with a special riveting tool and rivet is back together.

 

This planetary gear system is rivetted with the small seal ring inside.

The tranny specialist thought it whas an other type transfer case.

He cant rivet this type.

So we mounted a used one (same type without the visco).
