Thanks for the info. I went to the dealership and got the Jag part. I will post pics of the Carquest vs the Jag version for the next person needing clarification.

Thanks again.

How much of a job is the wheel bearing? I hate to take it to a shop if I can get it done in a few hours. Do you need to take the hub totally out of the car and off the strut? Pictures would help. I have already done a lot of maintenance on the Jag with the help of this forum. Thanks for any info.

You'll have a hard time doing this yourself unless you have the machinery to press a new bearing into the hub. Labor for the bearing when I had it done was $150 plus the $40 or so for sourcing the part myself. The funny thing is that they originally put in a generic one and billed me $80 for it. I thought I'd never see the day where an OEM part is cheaper than a generic

Tires on front were feathered and making noise. Rotated the tires front to back, and it cured the growl.

bobgm, JPLV is a dealership out of Las Vegas that specializes in Jaguars and Porsches. Look at Direct JPLV Porsche Parts.com. That should answer all your questions.

Jaguar Dealer charged me $741.00 to replace my left front wheel bearing. I think I just got screwed

Picked up my 2005 X type from Jaguar Dealer today. They replaced my left front wheel bearing and charged me $741.00. I think I just got screwed. The price of the bearing was listed on the work ticket for $70.54

Yup, I did both of the front ones on mine in my driveway in 4 hours and a all that was required was one loaner tool from the auto parts store. Posted a DIY on the site that may be able to save others from getting stung like you did.
