Default x type will not rev correctly

Hi all

I have a small issue with my 3.0 v6 manual x-type as it will not rev above 3000 rpm in 2nd 3rd 4th and i guess 5th as well

It will rev in first or when not in gear but not in 2nd and above

also when you rev the engine it holds onto that rev for a few seconds before dropping

in first it will rev upto about 35mph but sounds like a rocket taking off and when you go into 2nd it just will not rev above 3000 rpm unless i take it out of gear

any ideas before i take it into the main dealers

if it helps i have not driven the car for the last 2 weeks and car has been standing on the driveway and has done it all day today even when i took it for a long trip

thanks

carl

Sounds like the clutch may be slipping.
The x-type does an input and output torque comparison on the manual transmission cars.
If the clutch starts slipping it will limit input to the transmission.

possible it doesn't do it in first so you can at least attempt to get going, not sure though.
