xtype Climate Control
Hello all you xtype lovers I have a question for you. I hope someone has also had my issue and is able to help me out.
I live in MN and the winter weather is upon us, my issue is not that my heater does not blow hot air, it is when I come off the freeway and start driving around town the blower starts blowing cold air for about 2 minutes then is goes back to blowing warm,
I also added a remote starter and I have the thermostate set at 85 cars runs for 10 minutes I get inside and the car is still cold why?
Is there a way I can set it so it blows warm air all the time? Wife is getting sick of driving in the x especially when it is below zero and vents start blowing cold air.
I did a search and looked through 11 pages and I could not find anyone with my specific issue or maybe it is just how these cars are made?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

cold air
This could be a stretch and don't laugh BUT if you have weak antifreeze (deluted from age or adding) Driving at freeway speed cools down the coolant so the thermostat closes trapping cold coolant in the radiator when you slow down it is able to warm up and therm opens again and heat comes back.If engine temp. doesn't fluctuate (which it shouldn't) coolant could be marginal OR if the temp guage fluctuates the water pump could be suspect.Still the heater is tapped off the output of the water pump not the radiator so you get quick heat from the engine on cold start up so with the risk of sounding stupid with out exact details. Freeway speeds your turning 3200 rps and intown aprox. 900--1000 the coolant moves slower keeping a more constant temp. It's logical but you know how logical in Minnesota works I live here too.

I had a similar issue and the culprit was a leaking coolant expansion tank. The coolant level was way low when cool but when on the freeway or when the car temperature is normal I get hot air. Replaced the tank & all is well.
It might not be the same cause but might worth checking out. Have pressure test & determine if you have a leaking tank. Hope that helps.
