Xtype discontinue in 2009

We've all heard about it being discontinued, although that hasn't been confirmed. However, if it is to be discontinued, my question is: Will it be replaced? If so, all hasn't been lost. It'd be even better if they offered the next-gen X-Type with a manual. That would make my day.

its suppose to be dead already. we keep getting new ones in so i dunno whats going on.
the s-typeistobe discontinued in 2009 and be replaced with the XF. your local dealer should have acatalog/book about the XF.
then in 2010 the XJ is suppose to go for a complete redesign.

It probably makes up 50% of total sales, but it is also there cheapest car.
They sell it for a lot less then the other models, but it couldn't be that much cheaper to make, because it has many of the same features as the other car, the only thing really cheaper about the x type to build is it's smaller engine.
They are going in a new direction with the XF so they might replace it with a smaller vresion of the XF or something who knows.
I never heard anything at the dealer about them discontinuing the X type, and I have alot of coonversations overthere.

We never got the FWD models here. Gotta keep that "Prestige" factor here in the states, so AWD was standard on this side of the pond.

In the states they only have AWD, not FWD, so im pretty sure they arnt goin to keep either of em.

If making an x-type FWD would lower the cost of manufacturing them then jaguar should sell FWD models I think. I live in Chicago, and I drove my grandma'sFWD 01 sable alot last winter, and it never got stuck once. FWD seems to work as well as AWD, at least for snow.
RWD would be a bad idea tho. I never have found a good reason for RWD, if someone could give me one. My mustang, and two jags are both RWD. I haven't driven the jags in snow yet, but the mustang got stuck in the snow liek 8 times trying to pull outta the driveway.

As for RWD.........Good for drifting and a lot of the sport car manufacturers use this system, so thats gotta tell you sumthin. They reckon that anything over 240ish bhp is no good on FWD I heard somewhere. AWD in snow n rain etc....terrible!

Jeez.........a 3.0 is a big car over here. Over there its probably fairly average[&:]...then again your fuel prices are on the low side to say the least.
Jeez, we're up to nearly £5.00 a gallon here now.....its gettin ridiculous!
