31 here from Kalamazoo, Michigan. I do all my own wrenching and have had the x type taken completely apart a few times making most repairs seem like child's play now. I've had the car 4 years now and the most major repair being what I'm doing now and even that isn't bad (T-case output shaft bearings and seal)

I agree with most here and appreciate the wide age range of drivers amongst us all. Its pretty cool but what I'd like to see is the drivers cars and if you can tell who is the old coot or the young stud just by how their cars look haha. Cheers folks.

Dell, does getting off of your lawn also apply to us sailors too? LMAO. Used to be a big thing in Norfolk, VA. People used to have signs in their yards saying "Dogs and sailors stay off the grass".

I'll be 62 in a month, with two major car/truck rehabs in the works right now. Big shop, lifts, and tools make me happy. 45 years with my head under the hood.

I still play with cars and trucks, sooo I must still be a kid...

Thang, keep an eye out. I will be heading up to Pottstown, PA and I know Paul and myself are looking to do a get together while I am there. I just found out that I will have Thursdays off, so, that will be my only day during the week that I can do anything (gotta love 12 hour days while at work). I am going to get in touch with Paul and see what can be worked out. Not familiar with what is in the area, so, can't be of a lot of help at the moment.

Chris, Thang,
Sounds like a plan

Let me know when you will be here this is my schedule for the next few months,
Mexico April 9th until 14th
South Korea April 19th until the May 1st
Greece May 6th until May 19th

I am sure we can fit something in. Anyone else near Central PA is welcome or has some recommendations.
once we get a date we can look see whats going on in the area and find a Place and post in the North east section.
I will also shout out to Joe (Dr Dome) he is quite close to Pottstown

Thang, I can pick you up if you need a ride hope your doing better.

Please keep me in the loop about this get together. It's a 6 hour drive each way for me, but I would like to do it if the calendar lets me.

Paul, with your schedule, that really only leaves a single Thursday to do this. So, it will be May 4th. Paul, if you know of a good spot in the area, pick it and lets get everyone onboard. I am willing to drive a little ways if it is going to make things easier. Not being familiar with the area, I would be guessing as to where to have everyone meet up.

Thanks Paul, There are few places here in Lancaster: Lititz Spring park, Lancaster County park, Long park, or Park City's parking lot, they are not crowded on week days

Chris,
The 4th sounds like a plan.
You want to get the ball rolling and post a meet up in the regional section so we don`t hijack any more of this post.
We could get a list going on who is interested, where that are and get suggestions on a place to meet.

Default 60 here

60 years old here ... Central NJ ... I would make my case for "old stud" but ... LOL ... ain't never gonna happen :-)

Been wrenching on cars since before I could drive ... 15 ... and am planning on getting a scissor lift *finally* this year!

I also own a 1989 Toyota MR2 that I and friends rebuilt from the ground up - that's my "fun" car.

Hello Paul and Thermo and every one else can make it on Thursday May 4th. This is my plan: We'll meet some time early afternoon on the parking lot next to my house; Village Common on the corner of Main st.(Rt 72 or Manheim pk) and Miller rd.East Petersburg , we go to place to eat lunch, then come back the Village Common, there is a micro brew place here open at 4pm, to have a couple of drinks and talk more, walk over to see my car, hope I get a lots done or might have it run by that time.

Chiming in from Arizona. 38 years old and have always done as much of my own work as I can. Have saved a lot of money using the instructions and stories on this forum, and, have had a good time talking with the X Type owners.

I bought mine in 2010 with 80K miles on the clock. It has 143K today and runs good. However, I figure some substantial repairs on peripherals are going to come due soon, like wheel bearings, brake rotors, and suspension work.

What I'd like to know is what do you'all do for a living? I'm an engineer at a photonics company. We are a start-up working on liquid crystal display technology and laser based projection systems for consumer electronics.
