First time user, be gentle.....

This is driving me insane as i can't seem to find an answer online. Maybe i'm looking in the wrong place or maybe i'm just dumb.....
Anyways, I can't figure out if my XE should have a SIM card module to enable WiFi Hotspot etc....
I have the InControl Touch system. I can't see any SIM module in the boot/trunk of the car and there's no SIM card slot in the centre console.
I have an InControl Protect and Remote subscription and can unlock and locate the car remotely so there's definitely a connection to the outside world going on.

Any idea what/where else i could be checking?
I have the VIN but Topix shows me a whole load of nothing SAJAB4CN6HCP04325

My 2017 XE has a micro sim card slot in the center console, together with two USB slots. The XE should enable a 3G connection via ATT, assuming ATT still offers 3G service.

 

This is what i have in the centre console. The SIM slot must have been an addition after mine. Thanks. Dave

In the 2017 MY (North America) - WiFi was an available option on the Premium and Prestige models, and included with the R-Sport model.

InControl Protect and Remote were included with all models. They are not dependent on the WiFi option.

Sounds like your car doesn’t have the option.

I had a similar confusion with my car's connectivity setup. Even without a visible SIM card slot, some cars have the module hidden away, like under a panel or seat. Since your car's InControl features are working, there's definitely a connection somewhere. Checking with the dealership or your car's manual might reveal where it's hidden.

 

When I got my car, I found out it actually used an Esim Europe setup for its WiFi hotspot. It wasn't obvious at first, but the dealership helped me locate it. Sometimes the SIM module is integrated into the system, so you might not see a traditional slot.Since your car's InControl features are working, there's definitely a connection somewhere. Checking with the dealership or your car's manual might reveal where it's hidden.
