2017 XE 2.5t 120mph limiter removal
Ok, so I'm looking at getting a '17 xe 2.5t but according to jag usa it's limited to a pants on head retarded 120mph. Does anyone know if this can be removed? Additionally does anyone know where the person who came up with that idea lives so they can be beaten with their own limbs.
many thanks

Yes, the ECU flash will often remove it. Paramount Performance (UK) have one as well. I've dealt with them before and they were good. Also TMC Motorsport have been good to deal with for one of our other cars.
I dont know whether you would need it for the 4 pot turbo though. It is plenty quick enough from 0 - 60, but you'd need a lot of road to get it to 120mph. Even the 250KW V6 needs a bit of time to get to 120mph, the 280KW V6 (which isnt in the XE) is quicker at the higher speeds.

If you look up the Jaguar models you can see the XE is the only one limited to the 120 MPH for some reason. All the rest go 155-175 MPH just like every other imported car does. I find this strange but maybe it is due to meet some type of requirement or insurance stipulations as the XE is targeted to the younger crowd I am told.
I can't wait to have it removed to see what the XE can top out at over in "Mexico" or in my case in "Canada" since I am on the East Coast.
We have a group who goes out at the 2-4 am times called the TRL aka Turnpike Racing League for top end runs on the NJTP where it is dead at those hours and is 4 lanes wide.

My XE has a 94Y rating and is good for 186 MPH so they should have at the least let my XE go as fast as the F-Pace does (155MPH) or even up to the XJL and F-Types 175MPH.

Limiting to 200kph is a bit meh, I suppose, especially when the speedo goes to 280kph.

Awesome. When you get the car and crank it up to 120mph, it would be great if you could post how it performs over 100mph. I havent driven the 25T anywhere near as fast as that though I drove an XE S to just on 200kph on a track.

I also agree that 120mph is very low. Every competitor does 155mph.
In the US, you can surely do above 120mph on a highway but you either need to be driving very late at night or be in Montana or Wyoming where there are very few people, few cars and few towns around.

Haha, unfortunately you cant move without speed traps these days and the police have the radars in their cars now so you get caught going the other way. then if you go to the outback where you get a long straight road, they are full of pot holes and only one lane wide, you then come up against road trains as well. but the Northern Territory has some unregulated roads, but that is ending soon.
Down to a few points left on my license (a hangover from the XKR ownership), I've become very conscious of speed limits.

My 3.5T R-Sport came with the 19" Venoms with the Pirelli Centurato P7. They are "H" rated...which I know for sure since I'm having to replace two due to some nasty potholes that have just appeared around here after flooding.
Looking at Tire Rack's website, "H" means the tires are rated for 130mph so I assume that Jaguar added an additional 10mph safety margin by limiting the car to 120mph.
The bigger question is why not supply the car with higher spec tires so that the full (or most of the) performance potential of the car can utilized on a close circuit, professional driver, don't try this at home etc etc caveats of course :-) ??

We can adjust speed limiters. I would also say based on the turbo application we can probably get a big whack of torque out of them also.

Where I live I personally need all-season tires but I know other quality tire manufactures have plenty of Y or W rated all-season options. Disappointingly the Pirellis have the lowest speed rating from the available tire options on Tire Rack for the 19" XE wheels.
