Default 2017 XE Brakes

Hey everyone - I just got my car back from the dealership and was told that I will need new brakes soon. I asked if they meant brake pads, not the entire brake system (rotors, pads, sensors, etc.) and was told that my car requires everything to be replaced. Does this sound right?

My previous car was a C350 and I only replaced the entire brake system once and that was around 120k miles.

How many kilometres/miles are on the car?

Is the brake pad wear indicator light on in the instrument cluster?

I’m closing in on 46,000 miles.

No indicator light yet on the instrument cluster or app.

At first glance, this does sound like "gouging" of the customer from a rather cynical shop. What I do know is that Jaguar now have "replace brake flexible hoses" in the 60k mile service. This is the third service by mileage, (or at the 6 year service as its a 2 year interval), and I only found out about it when I took out a new service plan last month. It would certainly NOT be normal to replace all discs and pad, hoses, brake lines, master and slave cylinder etc etc at 46k miles. However, I can believe it if they are suggesting discs and pads, as the discs have a specified minimum thickness and if these are the original discs from car build they may very well be worn out.

I think the Dealership should be asked to detail all items that they consider need replacing, and to explain exactly what the issue is with each item. At 46,000 miles I could accept that pads and discs(rotors) may need replacement but I would not expect anything else to do so. In my experience it would be unusual at 46,000 miles for anything to be wrong with the brake calipers and highly unusual for anything to be wrong with the master cylinder. And, as the previous poster notes, JLR's service recommendation is that the flexible hoses only need replacement at 60,000 miles.
This does look like a Dealership talking up work to make more money!
