Default Anyone Running the 553Hp 3L E85 Tune?

There is a new tune out by velocityap for E85 that puts out appx. 553Hp on moonshine. E85 is more environmentally friendly and produces extra power, all at a cost that's 20% below that of gas. I already had the single pulley gas tune from VAP for 450HP, that worked great. It is is required for the E85 tune, along with their new upper pulley that does not slip like the others out there.

Looks like mine will go in late next week. Just wanted to compare notes if anyone else does this.

I can't see your engine lasting long with that sort of tuning state !

I've been kinda looking for an excuse to build the engine out anyways! Like I'm looking for an excuse to replace my LSD with the f-type version. lol

The E85 burns about a third cooler, so the extra HP actually should not raise temps. With E85 you have to cycle the gas regularly to avoid water issues, but overall its a known viable solution. Millions of flex fuel vehicles run it with no issues.

In the 'old' xk150 forum there is a thread titled "600 HP or bust"
I think we might be talking @ bust here as well...can't wait to see/smell/ drive/ride in this alternative fueled vehicle...remember where I live?
I can supply a map.

Oh, it's in the plan wymjym. Berli's is still waiting for Jaguar to send them the rear support bar that was damaged, otherwise they'd be done as all the paint is finished. The pulley will be here end of week. I'll lyk!

I have the Velocity AP (VAP) tune on the F-type (same engine) - that takes you to around 420HP. Add the supercharger crank pulley, and you're around 450HP. Lots of discussion of VAP on the F-type forum, they're a forum sponsor, active on the forum, and have great customer service.

I am curious about this, does this basically make you go from premium 93 pump gas to E85? Or do you need other stuff to do so? or is this something different/race gas?

You need both of the VAP pulleys (larger crank/lower pulley and smaller SC pulley), a new SC drive belt, the specific VAP tune, and only E85.
So yes it "makes" you go to E85.
I considered it for my V6 but E85 is quite rare in my neck of the woods so no go.

I have completed the E85 upgrade and it is the real deal. When I upgraded to the upper pulley and E85 tune, I did experience slippage at the top pulley. At the recommendation of my mechanic I had the belt tensioner replaced, which seems to have solved the issue. (I have 55K mi on my car).
My wife I and I went out yesterday, I was showing off and did a pull from 80 to 140 and it was smooth power delivery up to 140 and had tons of power left, but the wife said to slow down.
She did comment on how friggin smooth the engine and ran with the new tune...there is no way to tell all that power is there until you depress the accelerator...lightly.
To answer your question there are no other mechanical changes needed other than the two pulleys and the belt. This E85 tune is somewhat unique in that you do not have to change injectors for the different fuel. Once you go E85 you have to fill with E85 only, this is not a flex-fuel tune.
Finally, I got the VAP transmission tune a while back with my 450Hp gas tune, and I'm positive it was necessary to help handle all this new power. You will need it.
OMG I can't tell you how happy I am with the tune. More Powaaaaar.

Are you planning on timing 0-60 and/or 1/4 mile??? Hope so!

Sounds like as long you’re careful about what’s in the tank, perhaps you could load the premium gas tune from the VAP tuner, for road trips etc. If you can live with 450ish HP temporarily.

I don't think there is a need for that as E85 is widely available. But yes, in theory you could change from tune to tune if you drain the tank to empty first.

Update: Filled with Ethanol three times from the same pump, experienced a smooth running and powerful engine from Idle to 7K RPM. Yesterday I filled at the same pump, and within a mile the car started stuttering at idle, and would not restart easily.
Engine light came on and codes read to be misfires on cyl 5 and cyl 6.
I'm sure I got bad fuel.
Ordered a E85 testing kit, a Siphon, and some octane booster called Boostane Professional.
I'll confirm my theory with the test kit, then try raising the octane. If that does not work I will have to siphon and refill.
This is a shortcoming of the tune, as the tune is optimized for fuel as advertised, not the real world. Some ethanol burners have a built in octane sensor to adjust timings on the fly, this tune does not.
If I confirm I have bad gas, I will report it to the right guys here: https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/fmq/fmqcomplaints.htm
Ethanol Buyer beware.

Update on Update: It was a bad tank of fuel. While waiting for the Boostane I used the Redline SI-1 in the tank and drove half the tank out, as my siphon kit was too short to reach the tank. The car ran like crap, but it did run if I kept the revs up. It was almost comical the number of backfires I had when I let off the gas. It was still riding a bit rough at idle when I got her home. The next day I got the Boostane delivered and used half a can in the half tank remaining. The car ran much better, and by the bottom of the tank it felt normal. I refueled at a different location and the car runs GREAT again.
I think it could have been a combo of bad gas and the dirty injectors it caused. Thanks for the recommendation!

Glad things are improving! I am living vicariously through your "max it out" approach! Hope to see you post some 0-60 times when your Jag is feeling "all better"!

Still loving the tune! For anyone running the E85 tune, I suggest you order some Boostane to keep on hand, so if you do run into a low octane E85 pump situation you can adjust accordingly. With bad gas the car will sputter and lope at Idle, you will know if it happens to you. Thanks to Stuart at VAP and Josh at Exotic Power and Performance for the Boostane suggestion, it worked. This video shows why I like my mechanic Josh, he knows his stuff and avoids BS. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=b06mIHXZSBY
