Default Engine cover foam falling apart

I was about to pull the engine cover off my 2017 XE 2L 25t when I saw some sort of foam insulation sitting on parts of the motor. jaguar does no even show this on the engine over. Does anyone have a replace source for this foam? Even better, a foam that will not fall apart?

Thank you

Are you referring to the under foam on the hood?
Did you use high pressure powered spray on the foam to clean it? This is the first time I've heard of foam insulation falling apart under the hood.

So the cover sits on top of the motor with the jaguar logo on it. This foam appears to be part of the cover but I do not see it a separate part to be ordered. Not really sure what this low density foam would do anyway.

Oh I see, my XF is also a 25T but the engine is different than yours. I think yours has a Ford EcoBoost not the current Ingenium engine. I don't know if that cover shield is made by Ford or Jaguar, There's one currently sold on eBay for https://www.ebay.com/itm/26633314669...3ABFBMntrHu7xi

If the foam isn't sold separately either by Ford or Jaguar, as a last resort (if it was me), I'll venture on removing the foam and installing an aluminum heat shield/sound deadening, cutting it on the same size as the foam. Make sure the area is clean and apply shoemaker's glue (contact cement) to it.

That is a neat option but I am not sure I want to risk trapping any more heat. We are currently averaging 98 degrees temps here in South Carolina.

I will keep it in mind. Now that I know it is a ford engine I will see what they might offer.

thank you

The function of the foam and the cover are primarily for Noise Isolation. Unfortunately they also isolate heat which is like wearing a sweater in the summer, raising engine temps. If you can, take off the cover then take a drive and see what noise you hear, If the noise is still the same or still quiet enough for you, leave the cover off as it's adding weight and heat.

I can not imagine it offers much in noise reduction because of how the foam is made. Open density foam as well as thin. Heat I am sure it does not help but if anything in my mind it would be blocking any air flow under the cover.

I think I am just going to try to ignore this unless I find more the motor. And I if do not fiddle with taking off the cover I should be ok.

Thanks y'all,

From one of the pictures it looks like the actual plastic cover is disintegrating as well as the foam beneath.
You therefore probably do need to renew the whole cover because you don't really want bits of plastic from it dropping onto the auxiliary drive belt and damaging it, or even jamming it.
Either that or, as suggested, dispense with the cover completely
