Default Illuminated Door Sill Treadplates Problem

Hi,

So I recently bought and installed the illuminated door treadplates for my Jaguar XE 2017. I plugged them in and clipped them down and everything. Only problem is they don't seem to work. I was wondering, aside from exploring the wiring, is there any fuses I can check to make sure they're supposed to be in working order? The fuses I can check myself, for the wiring I rather just go to a Jaguar dealer. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

These are the ones I bought by the way: https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-T4N7600

Welcome to the forums Raymond,

According to the 2017 XE online Owner's Handbook, there isn't a separate fuse:
https://www.ownerinfo.jaguar.com/doc.../proc/G1878559

The fitting instructions look quite easy with only a single connector.

I'd first check for power before going to the dealer. If there's power at the connector(s) with the door(s) open, then the units are suspect.

Hi, thank you for the response! Yup, that's what I did, I just plugged them into the prong that was available right under that part but it doesn't seem to work. So I guess I'll take it to a dealership to see why it doesn't work. Thank you again.

The "prong" that's the retainer for the harness connector (arrowed in RED)?

Did you locate the male harness connector (arrowed in GREEN) and press it firmly into the treadplate harness connector (arrowed in YELLOW)? You may have to search for it inside the box section. There should be a noticeable click as the GREEN power harness connector positively engages with the YELLOW treadplate harness lead connector. The assembled connector then slides onto the "prong" to keep it firmly located.

Yup, there was a click on both and they both fit snuggly into each other. However both the female and male prongs on my end are red. No other colors.

My poor explanation. I was just using different colours in the diagram to distinguish the parts. Certainly sounds like you have it connected correctly.

I can't imagine I got anything wrong in the connecting aspect. It must be wiring, where then it's out of my abilities. Plus I guess it isn't easy to pop them back open in order to double check, since I'm sure the clips would break. haha

I got it to work. LOL it's attached to the dome lights. So if the dome lights are on the treadplates will be on, if the dome lights are off the treadplates are off no matter what.

It doesn't mention that critical detail in the fitting instructions!

Good to hear you solved it.

These are pretty cool, how about a picture of them fitted? So, when the dome light comes on when opening the door (if set that way), the sillplates come on?

The light on the roof, which is no longer dome-shaped? Tap it to turn it on/off, tap and old to toggle auto (on door opening) on/off.

Here's the left plate. Yes when the roof lights are on even when the door is closed, that's when sill plates turns on.

Looks very nice but the price is eye-watering.

THIS LOOKS AWESOME!!!!
I live in the USA and it seems for our XE's the illuminated kick plates are only available with the Portfolio pkg, as well as colored ambient lighting. I have the supercharged S trim and want these so bad. I've scoured these forums regarding a mod to get ambient lighting but I don't think its possible, and if it is, i know the price to do so is unreasonable. I know in Europe, you can order it as an option. How was the install on the kick plates?
