Default ingenium 4 cyl gas engine

Any ideas when the new Ingenium 4 cyl gas engine will start to make it in the US-bound XEs? Any chance we will see an R-sport with that engine?

I have been waiting since July to try a 35t RWD R-sport, but the dealer hasn't gotten any. Exactly one showed up but it was already sold.

Those are from the Ford era. The ones I'm talking about are the new ones.

At a guess, MY 18 cars. Given that the engine will (or ought to) be considerable performance and economy benefits Jaguar will have to consider issues around running down stocks ets etc of Ford engined cars. The most logical time to do this would be when they do it anyway at new model year release.

BTW, are there any Jaguar boards where dealers respond to questions?

I found this:
2017 Jaguar XE - Consumer Reports

We look forward to buying our own for a full test, but we will be waiting until early 2017 when the Jaguar’s new 2.0-liter gasoline engine becomes available.
Looks like it should be available in early 2017.

tbh, these ford era engines are really good and proven. these new ingenium engines are unknown, they may be good or not.

My missus has the XE 25T ecoboost. It is a lovely engine and quite strong, quick, and economical. On the downside it sounds a little buzzy winding up and the turbo makes it a little surgey, like a slingshot. But overall the car is brilliant. I've driven the XE S (3.0 supercharged) on a track day. That is an awesome car. It has all of the things I love about the 25T with a sharper response and better engine note. Over here the price difference between 25T and XE S is $40K. If it was $10K or so, I'd pay the extra in a heartbeat.

This is something I am thinking about. I am deciding whether to buy a run out stock vehicle with the Ford sourced engine which is proven, or whether to wait for the new "improved??" engine which might be good, or might not, but you may not know for a few months or years down the track.

They seem to be getting a fair number of 35T AWD here in southern calif. LA, NEWPORT, and other areas. Maybe you'll have to book a flight down here..test drive..buy..and drive it back home You won't be sorry with the V6!

I ended up test driving a 35t premium since that is all they had available on the lot a couple of weeks ago. I did not like it at all. For now, I'm keeping my BMW and bought the extended warranty and maintenance plans.

I think I'm over Jaguar now, even before owning one. It has given me a new appreciation for BMW.

Fair enough. Drive safe and have fun out there.

Any idea if the new engines will be gas only or dual fuel (Gas and petrol)? My current car is gas only which makes fuel planning needed on long drives in remote areas.

No. Petrol is not a gas. If I get a petrol leak, it drips on the ground. If my gas (lpg) tank leaks, it goes up into the atmosphere.

The Americans call petrol 'gasoline', or 'gas' for short, hence confusion can arise.

I had just been conversing with a friend about converting his XJS to gas, hence the brain slip. So what do they (Americans) call gas???
