A 2017 like mine will still be under warranty. Have you taken it to the main agent yet ? Mine is the diesel version, but I think the cylinder head is the same design, or may even be the same. I get no untoward noises at all, apart from the usual diesel growling ! The petrol version of the Ingenium is still fairly new, so this could be an early issue appearing. Pity it has to be the customer that finds these things out !!!

I don't think the Ingenium engines have balancer shafts.
Essentially you have to put your foot down now, and tell them you want the problem fixed ! They warrant their cars, so let them fix it. If they do the Microsoft trick of saying "its not a bug, its a feature", then I'd be making big noises.

It's been described as a rattle, tapping, ticking, sewing machine noise, etc. Most of the time it comes down to a faulty earth strap that's too rigid and transfers fuel pump noise to the passenger cabin. There is a TSB for it...JTB00483V4

Keep in mind that most direct injection engines will make this noise when listening from outside the car. The TSB is to keep that normal fuel pump noise from being directly channeled in to the passenger compartment. My dealer didn't know about the TSB either until I asked them about it.
ETA: If your car is brand new it may not be covered by the VIN range stated in that TSB. There are still guys that have had success replacing the earth strap even when the dealer said the TSB did not apply. In the threads I posted above you can find a "Halford's braided earth cable" fix that seems to do the job even when the official Jag fix fails.
