I started this thread exactly one month ago and since then the inventory numbers at my dealership have not changed. Total Jaguars remain at 39 and XEs at 16 with the same year by year distribution. This is not to say for sure that no cars sold but it certainly looks like that. I would say that business is slow.

Unless you are buying a current XE at an absolute bargain price or have to have the 6, you would be much better off waiting for the 2020 to land in about August. The reviews of the 2020 are very positive and they are quite a bit cheaper than the current models. The downside is that no 6 is offered, though for me ours will be going from 180KW to 220KW for the same price, so I'm not complaining.

According to today's Green Car Reports, Jaguar sold only 608 I-Pace in the U.S., while Tesla sold 3,805 Model X during the same period (Jan-Mar '19)
The other Jaguar models aren't faring any better. Perhaps Jaguar should go back to being a 'boutique brand' that had a lot more respect back in the day.

This is it. Making a Jaguar vanilla is not good for the long distance. Everyone is trying to go upscale, they're going down market. Everything that made a Jaguar special seems to be worn out relic at JLR. Sad. At least Jaguar still drives like something, but when will that be a thing of the past?

When I was in for a dealership service visit seemed like sales were still very flat. Lot of workers, a couple of service customers, no vehicle customers. One problem is that as a smaller brand you are more at the mercy of a "bad apple" dealership. Here in Birmingham, Alabama we used to have 2 Jaguar dealerships, now we have one, which moves 10 Land Rovers for every 3 Jags they sale (and honestly not that many Land Rovers either).
I love the current lineup look, but I didn't at first. Jaguar is going to have to get up on it's toes now that every sedan has been sport and luxury designed to death. I am hoping that the sedan market will come back.

Exactly. This is 100% why I'm driving an XJ after three first gen. XFs. The new (XE, XF, F-Pace, E-Pace, even F-Type) interiors are GARBAGE- as in RUBBISH, so was 'forced' to go with the XJ, even though the car is too big for me. (Still love driving this XJ though.......).

Jaguar had the best commercials for a while.
Warning! A formidable creature is at large and roaming about.

Hmm, I wouldn't say that. What makes it the worst ? I drove Jaguars from 1987 (a Mark 2, then an XJ6 in 1988, had that for 14 years, very badly built)). Went to Mazda and then Rover between 1999 and 2010, then on to an X350, and X358, and now an XE. The XE is proving excellent so far. Of course the style of the XJs from 1969 up to the X350s is beguiling, (except for the XJ40s), but as a man in a dealership said to me once, "the older Jaguar enthusiasts who like the old-type styling are either retired or dead. Jaguar needs to move on" And they have moved on !

I don't have any issues with Land Rover's portfolio and think they are doing a bang up job with their line up. The new Defender is looking a lot better than I thought is was going to. We could be in a Defender when our XC60 lease is up.

I won't be surprised if the all electric XJ is a big bust in the United States. Taking one of the world's best long distance road cars and turning it into an overpriced commuter car.
