Yes, I agree with much of that.
It is so funny how "modern" we let marketing companies out there CONVINCE us we are... and in reality we hold on to so many (SO MANY) grungy moldy legendary notions from our grandpappy's time, and just keep following those.
We had a conversation on one of the other forums a couple of years ago about how true that is with the subject of cars. Even today, there are so many of us who still have stringy jumper cables in our trunk or garage, who still let mechanics charge us money to rotate our tires, who still stand our windshield wipers in the air before a snowfall, who still warm the engine up in the morning by letting the car idle in park. instead of driving down the road slowly for the first ten minutes.
....It was a fun thread.

Except for buying two new Pirelli Centurato P7's after a pothole took out both left side tires with only 2000 miles on the car I never went back to them. The sidewalls on the Pirelli's seems to be weaker than other brands. Since the Pirelli's I've tried Michelin Pilot Sport 3+ A/S, then Goodyear Exhilarate (which were pretty good despite the cheesy name), but my favorite so far are the current Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS+ which are still comfortable at the higher 47/43 psi setting. Similar to what DJS mentioned though...I tend to run them around the mid-point of the TPMS normal/light setting of 42/40... but set the TPMS to the light setting to avoid warnings. We have big morning/afternoon temperature swings where I live and so I can often see 50+ psi on the rears if I use the 47 psi setting.

Tire rotation has not been recommended or many years - not just Jaguar - especially with tire pressure monitoring hardware and software.. Never rotate tires side to side - why would you anyway? Tires suddenly rotating the opposite direction. Hello cracked sidewalls.

my favorite tire for mixed hot/cold temperatures. Has been incredible with no issues, the perrelli's did not last long and after the second one I switched over. Years later I'm still rolling these Potenzas in all sorts of New England climates, no problems.
