Default Passive locks

I've had my 35t for a few months now, and I realize I got the premium trim level so it doesn't have a bunch of the fancy driving features, but still it's a 2017 car. There are two dissapoiting features missing. The first is the passive locking feature and the second is whatever you call that lock by touch feature on the door handles. My last few cars were cadillacs but they all had this feature. It practically wrecks the whole point of the key fob vs a key if I still have to take it out of my pocket to lock and unlock the car 🙄😆. Does anyone know if this can be added after the fact?

Same thing happened to me-- purchased a 2017 35t Premium without doing research into the different trim levels first. Didn't realize it didn't have "keyless" or passive entry until I took it home that night. I don't believe a retrofit of the passive entry feature is doable, unfortunately. It would take different modules, sensors, door handle, wiring I'm sure, etc. Ridiculous that a 2017 entry-level luxury car would be missing such a basic feature.

But hey, at least you bought the right engine!

Yeah, the 35t sure is fun to drive.

I did some additional searching around. Sounds like I'm in good company, tons of people complaining about the lack of this feature on multiple models. Called around to a couple local shops, they didn't really have any after market solutions or recommendations either.

So... live and learn I guess. It just never even occurred to me it wouldn't be a standard feature.

Exactly-- you would think in 2017 every single car would have this feature but no... someone at JLR had the bright idea to remove it. Probably the same team who decided to kill the XFR, kill the V6, limit the new XE/XF to a 4 banger....

This car is definitely a joy to drive! Now that I have my VAP pulley and tune it is such a different beast I don't even care about the few missing features.
