I found it impossible to use my Valentine One in my 2017 XE…. Something in the windshield blocked its ability to receive radar waves. I gave up trying.
For two years or so I've been running the ALP which currently has two laser modules in the front that pull double duty as parking assist as well as Laser Jamming. Added to the ALP DSP netradar module, stealth mounted in the grille. Can't count how many times I've evaded laser detection, its many times here in Austin where all they run is Laser.
ALP has every feature...smartphone pairing, USB key tamper lock (keeps LEO from running forensics on your detector), GPS location lockouts, excellent range and filtering. These guys invented laser parking technology decades ago.
Many Jaguars have windshields that block radar reception (especially if you have the heated windshield version of glass, but you did not have to buy that option to be affected) rendering your in-cabin box escorts and unidens and such practically useless, unless they are remote. I had to trade away my treasured Valentine One, it was useless in my car.
Below on my black XE you can see the Netradar receiving unit above the Growler Logo, and the two laser jammers on each side. Looks near factory, LEO has no idea as many cars now have distance sensors in the grille these days.
I would hate to spend 500 for a V1G2 when I need to install a stealth unit.
Most 2017+ Jags have a metallic tint in the windshield that blocks radar so I believe that those people for whom the radar detector works fine have a model year before 2017. For 2017+ there are only a two spots with dots to the left and right of the rear view mirror where a windshield mount radar detector will work. I find that I can squeeze a Beltronics Magnum STI in the dot areas and get pretty good performance, although off axis is impacted a bit. A smaller detector like a Radenso may work too but I am not sure about the Valentine One which is bigger. I can check how Uniden R1/R3 will fit cause I have one too.
Have you actually done testing with range using another car or does work fine mean that the detector will go off? The windshield will not block all signals (especially if the police officer is behind you) but it does limit front range by a lot. Basically it turns a $500 detector into a $100 detector.
It could also be that for 2020 Jaguar moved away from the metallic windshield because of the complaints. Maybe someone could verify that.
It works the same as it did with my previous Alfa. My Uniden has a radar direction indicator so I can tell where it's coming from. When it goes off, like last night, I get the same range as I did before.

Interesting. Probably Jaguar got rid of the metallic windshield in 2020 or 2019 as it also blocks other signals like GPS and everyone has smartphones. I can see lots of complaints not only from the radar detector community. Good to know.

Just tested on my 2018 XE. Look like Jaguar fixed the windshield in 2018 and it no longer blocks radar detectors. I think 2017 is the unlucky year. The tint on the 2018 windshield looks a bit different too compared to the 2017.
If you go to the AL Priority link provided there is a simple shopping list where you can get the exact configuration you want. Mine was about $1600.00 for the whole setup, plus $600.00 for a custom installation from an independent Master Jag Tech. https://www.alpriorityusa.com/AL-Pri...ng-System.html
I "started" with the Netradar unit, bluetooth interface (smartphone view and bogey tracking, you can use your smartphone to display everything real time) and speaker, the main CPU, and two laser units up front. I originally planned to add the rear radar and rear laser sensors for directional detection later(I was replacing my beloved Valentine 1), but honestly I have never missed the rear detection feature in the last 2.5 years of hard, fast driving.
The main benefit is that an alp system is completely stealth, and you won't have to pull your windshield detector down every time you park to prevent a brick from going through your window when some thief sees that flashy jag with a $500.00 bill hanging in the windshield for everyone to covet. And my V1 and all the windshield boxes I know of do not jam radar, the feature that really saves my bacon in Austin (pun intended). With the ALP there are also GPS bogey tracking logs you can use to exclude everyday false locations so they won't signal over and over once you exclude them...very handy.
ALP provides a free detection update (IE Firmware) anytime you wish to stay current over the internet with the latest changes in frequencies by LEO, with fewer hardware updates needed this way (unlike the V1 where you send it in and pay $200.00 more for this year's changes through the Valentine 1 signal upgrade program, https://www.valentine1.com/v1-detectors/upgrades/, where I had to mail mine in and go without for four weeks to get similar upgrades as the ALP's free OS upgrades). ALP also has discounted upgrades to the hardware, when necessary, for $250.00.
Finally, the ALP is hands down the best laser Jammer on the market. In 2018 they introduced newer laser units with 40% more effective range, so the below review is a bit dated from 2016....
I have used Escorts and Passports (remote and hanging), Uniden, and Valentine 1 products. This ALP beats them all in signal discretion, updates, and bogey discrimination. Strongly recommended.
