I'm eagerly hoping for an XE-R, coupe form, with the snarling supercharged V-8. That might be a contender to replace my XKR when the lease is up in a few years...

ElGreco, lets just say that the car has the architecture to handle the supercharged V8. The big question will be whether Jaguar keeps the supercharged V8 around. All too many manufacturers are going to higher power V6's (ie, 400+ hp). You will be getting the same power, just a smaller engine. Think about how 10 years or so ago there were tons of V10 and V12 engines out there. Now the list is very small and even then, you are finding that they are very rare within that market.

So, while I am with you and love the sound of the big V8, technology has reached a point where the true need for a V8 to get the power is gone. Just expect the V6 to have to handle more and more power.

Thermo

I understand V-8s, especially from Europe, are fast becoming obsolete. My last car was a MB C- 63 AMG with that glorious 6.2L V-8, and was one of the last to be built with it. My curse is to have been raised on big American engines (and cheap gas) and it's in my blood. If I feel the need for displacement in the future I may have to go with a domestic brand, possibly the C-7 Corvette. In the meantime the modest little 5L in my XKR will have to do.

Cheers

I am totally confused by the JaguarUSA web site When you try to build one it shows three models but no ability to build one. If you go to the lower part of the site it then says you have FOUR models to chose from and they are different to the other three. Our local US dealer was able to put one together but still with no pricing so the question is how did you???? Or is that not a US price. I was still told build in January for delivery in May/June Can't wait!
When on the site where they have the bullets I scrolled until you get to the XE, clicked "learn more" and then clicked on "build XE" which brings up the 5 models; 20d, 20d AWD, 25t, 35t and 35t AWD.

the dealer probably meant it starts production in January.
