Rust?!

Rust?!
Hey All!
My '17 XE has little tiny spots of oxidation all over it. Doors, trunk, hood... I also have a lot of damage in front of where the rear wheel sits in the curve there (I assume road rash from the front tire kicking things up). I am not sure what to do. These oxidation spots are tiny... There's a detail shop near me that does paint restoration and ceramic coating and they list small oxidation spots as part of what they do. Anyone else come across this issue?
Thanks!

Do you drive a lot on gravel roads ? What you are describing seems to be stone damage. The white is the primer coat which lies underneath the colour coat. Above the clour coat is a clear lacquere. Gravel damage is particularly common at the rear of the sill cover, (US=rocker panel). I have now repainted mine and put a clear vinyl cover over the rear section. On the XE, the doors are steel, but the rest is aluminium.
A photo would help.

There is indeed a TSB about this !

It's not a warranty item, though, so you have to pay for it. Frankly, this sort of vinyl cover should be installed at the factory, like it is on my wife's 2009 New Beetle. Typical Jaguar penny-pinching !

I recommend detailers, albeit they can be pricy. I suffered from swirl marks all over my dark blue XE, and the rear sill flares were suffering chips even though I had applied protective film over them from new.
The detailer removed the damaged film, corrected the paint, applied new (and better) film and then ceramic coated the whole car.
The result is amazingly good with a deep highly water repellant gloss and I'm delighted with it, So far, the rear sill flares are also not showing any signs of damage, although I've not yet covered a large mileage.
The cost was around £600 so not cheap, but 2.5 days labour was needed to complete the job so it was not unreasonable.
