Default Thinking about a 2017 XE

I'm looking at a 2017 XE 35T AWD Prestige. Always liked Jaguars. Currently have a Genesis G80 which has had nothing but problems. Is there any known problems with the XE and 2017 specifically that I should be aware of when I go to look at it. Will the software update for the higher end infotainment unit give you car play or android auto?. Has there car been reliable for you?. Thanks for your help!!

My car is a May 2017 20D AWD Portfolio bought in January 2019 on 10k miles and now on 24k miles. It came from a main dealer with a 2 year warranty and has been totally reliable so far. The only work I have had done was new discs and pads to cure shudder on braking, plus a service in May 2019. The brake job was done on goodwill, so I didn't pay. I did pay to fit a spare wheel, as most cars seem to not have these nowadays. I bought a brand-new space saver wheel on eBay, but had to buy a new boot floor as the floor panel is wider and higher when a spare wheel is fitted. So slightly less boot space, but no worries if I have a puncture. If you have very cold winters make sure you get the heated steering wheel as well as the heated seats, mine has those and for me, an older man, they are a godsend even in damp and cold England.

Hi. We had out '16 model for 4 years and liked it so much we bought the '20 model. I also have the F Type S (2016 model) with essentially the 25T engine in it (to a higher tune), so between the two cars I am pretty much across it, though our cars are low mileage.

No reliability concerns in either. I had a few things done with my F type in its 4th year service, a seal had gone around a sensor and the fluid cap wasnt working properly but aside from that it has been very reliable (just locating a chirp in brakes or suspension now, but the rotors are aftermarket and that might be the culprit). The XE was also very reliable. They had a few "conquests" with the infotainment along the way. I think the version of incontrol that doesnt have hard buttons at the side is the only one that can be updated to play android auto. There is a thread on that in the F Type forum. The sound out of the up spec system is very good. I believe that you have to use a cable to connect to android auto, at least you do in the new systems.

They're solid cars. Paint is as soft as it gets and the wheels aren't rugged as previous Jags I owned. Other than that it's a great car.

i just picked up a CPO 2017 35t R sport on sunday, with the 10 inch display. to my surprise it came with carplay / android auto so i am assuming they must have updated the infotainment before i bought it. not sure about the other smaller screen infotainment. but i was pumped about mine

I am trying to decide on buying this XE now, it’s from a dealer that isn’t a Jaguar dealership.. I’m wanting to know if the vehicle will still have the jaguar warranty since it only has 2,000 miles

Jaguar warranties are also time limited. I think in the US it is five years, so it should still have two years outstanding. Check on what happens when the first owner trades the car and also what would be the situation for a car that is essentially new and has probably never had its first service.

Thank you for the response I plan on calling Jaguar today to verify, the car lot is offering a 90 day warranty and when I asked about the remainder of the Jaguar warranty since it’s a 2018, he stated he didn’t know. I will verify before signing today

You can call any jaguar dealer service center and give them the vin. They can then tell you how much warranty is left. I believe its 5yrs 60k mi from purchase date here in US.

I called I just wanted to verify what the dealer that was selling the vehicle was telling me. We purchased the vehicle and I love it; however I have done everything I can think of and cannot get a voice through the navigation.. am I missing something? We called the dealership and he told us to bring it in Monday but I am just wondering if I missed something. It’s not on mute, and the music pauses when I am supposed to turn but there is no voice.. would you happen to know

Have you looked at the Nav settings ? I believe you can turn on/off voice guidance prompts. I never use voice guidance, so haven't any direct experience, I'm afraid.

This will sound silly, but it worked for me: The nav sound and the music sound are adjusted separately. When you have no music playing, and your car is moving with the nav working, turn up the volume. The nav volume may simply be set inaudibly low.
