Default V6 engine swap

Hello,

I currently have the i4 in my 25t and i’m considering swapping over to the 380hp V6.

I posted this question on reddit asking if it’s possible, where can I buy one and such. So far the answers have been “buy a higher trim,” and the likes. But I like my current XE and I don’t want all that technology that the higher trims have.

So will it be possible to do it because, let’s be honest, it’s more realistic than a V8 hellcat miata.

It will be expensive. I have seen prices just for the engine alone running anywhere between 7 all the way up to 12 grand. I am not sure about transmission costs, engine management systems. If it is a AWD or RWD those need to be taken into consideration as well. Add labor unless you can do some of this work yourself and you would almost be in the price range of a CPO V6 XE.

If you do decide to take on this project keep us posted.

Cheers!
Matt

The best way to do it I would think is to find a v6 XE that is wrecked and buy the car. You would be able to get all of the bits you need to do the swap, including the EMS, any brackets, transmission, etc. It would be difficult but not impossible.
