Default XE S/35T stock TCM file in bin format

Does any XE S or 35T owners happen to have a stock TCM file in bin format? My mod file hang halfway during the upload. my stock file's format can't be read by another tuning device as it's encrypted to hp tuners software so I'm stuck. Local dealer says they don't have the file and I'll have to buy a new TCM instead🙄

In case it helps, I had the same issue where something glitched during uploading the TCM mod file using the HPTuners MPVI2 and for a little while I ended up with a dead transmission which will not even let the engine start since it can't be confirmed it's in Park.

The fix that worked for me...I found that if I tried the upload process again, starting with the ignition OFF, the VCM software would correctly recognize the transmission can validate the license. Then, just when I saw that the software was contacting HPTuner's servers and validated the license, I turned the ignition ON and the upload then completed successfully. If I didn't turn the ignition on at the point mentioned the upload would hang every time around the 8% mark, with either the mod file or the original.

I don't know if it's risky doing this, but since I had a dead car at that point anyway I figured worst cast I was looking at a new TCM. Anyway, it worked and I've had no problems since the uploaded completed.

Thank you!

I'll give it a try since its "dead" anyway.

Were you also getting "unlicensed vehicle" error code every time you tried to upload with the ignition ON?

Yes, "unlicensed vehicle" was the error code I was getting each time with the ignition ON but with the ignition OFF it would always get past that step and start but fail the upload. That's what lead me to trying switching the ignition on part way through the process. Really seems like something you shouldn't have to do, but I was just so relieved when it worked I didn't dig into it any further.

Good luck! Hopefully this works for you too.

Hey all,

Glad to hear you were able to fix the issue-- I have a bit of a situation trying to flash the mod TCU file.

First of all, my car works fine. I have it on a battery tender just in case when reading and flashing. I could read the file just fine and send to VAP for the modded file. My issue is when attempting to flash the new TCU tune I get the unlicensed vehicle error and it will not write at all.

VAP will be helping me contract HPtuners support but I figured I'd ask if someone else has run into this issue.

If you're unable to flash your mod file right from the start due to license issues, then it's likely a file problem and need VAP and HPtuners to resolve it.

But if you flashed, it stopped writing halfway followed by unlicensed vehicle, unable to start due to gearbox not in park; then you can try @fireblader929 method.
