Having trouble with my engine on the 2ltr diesel model. There is 124k miles on it. Started off with a noisy exhaust sound from top of engine complemented by a loud tapping knocking sound which I assumed was the timing chain. Jumped straight in and changed top and bottom chains, guides and tensioners all genuine parts. I didn't change out sprockets as they seemed fine. Also changed VVT soleniod. All parts fitting with no major issues although the noise is still there. Car seems to be driving fine but noise is very annoying and now the car takes a few extra cranks to start. I also changed out the oil cooling soleniod and replaced the camshaft sensor but still no joy. I have had the car at two different garages and they seem clueless as to what the problem actually is. The best they could offer was that the vvt (exhaust side) is stuck is the one position. Advanced or retarted. I have limited knowledge on this area although I am somewhat of a diy'er I feel this is beyond my scope. Speaking of scope I have only just had the car hooking up to a scope and got a few cam/crank readings which I hope to upload here if anyone can reach out and offer some sound advice. Cheers cam and crank
